Where: TBD

Healthy boundaries help promote love and freedom while reducing anger, frustration, resentment, nagging and dissatisfaction. Boundaries help us to stop wasting our energy and giving our power. More marriages fail because of poor boundaries than for any other reason. Building healthy boundaries will transform you emotionally, spiritually and relationally. Participants see such a tremendous change in their relationships they often repeat the study. Women's Bible Study: Sermon on the Mount

Women’s Bible Study: Sermon on the Mount

When: January 16th, 6:30-8:30pm

Where: Avenue Church Office

Most of us have only encountered the Sermon on the Mount in fragments, considering its subdivisions as complete teachings in their own right - a study on blessedness, a reflection on the Lord's Prayer, a meditation on lilies of the field. But what if we navigated these three chapters as they were originally heard: as one cohesive, well-ordered message, intended to challenge us to think differently about repentance, salvation, and sanctification? This 9-week study led by Jen Wilkin does just that. Seat yourself on a mountainside to learn at the feet of Jesus. Ask for ears to hear and a heart to respond to the teaching of our King.

Sacred Search

When: Part 1, January 14th - March 18th, 7:00-9:00pm
Part 2 - April 15th - June 17th
Where: TBD

This study is designed for singles, dating, and pre-engaged couples. We are studying the book, Sacred Search by Gary Thomas. The author helps us look at relationships through psychological, emotional, physical, and spiritual perspectives which creates a framework for understanding the why of marriage in a world that is grossly fixated on the who. His kingdom - first perspective gives us a Christ-centered understanding of God's plan for marriage. Sacred Search is designed to help those who desire to marry and pursue marriage in a manner that deepens their faith, honors God, and blesses their future spouse. Relational Harmony will be starting a new study group on Boundaries. Many have found the principles of this book to be life transforming. It is always lots of fun, lots of laughs, lots of tears, and an opportunity for lots of personal growth. Don’t miss this great opportunity to swim in the deep.

Just as there are physical laws which can be observed and govern matter, boundaries are the God-created, physics of relationships. The premier purpose of healthy boundaries is to promote love and to protect one from resentments.

There are four distinct areas:

Physical boundaries - Help to determine what belongs to me and what doesn’t, which clarifies what we are responsible for and what we are not.

Mental boundaries - give you the freedom to have your own thoughts and opinions and respectfully allow others theirs.

Emotional boundaries - help you deal with your own emotions and disengage from the harmful, manipulative emotions of others. Boundaries always establish ownership and responsibility.

Spiritual boundaries - help you distinguish God’s will from your own and give you renewed awe for your creator.

As we unpack the “laws of boundaries” we will learn how to bring new health to our relationships. We’ll discover first-hand how sound boundaries give us the freedom to walk as the loving, giving, fulfilled people God created us to be.
