My Story

I was born and raised in a very small town in north central Iowa where I was very active and participated in many sports. It was a very little town that had a very strong Luthern influence, but I was never introduced to Jesus.

After high school the predominate story was alcohol and drugs for many years. In 2000 I moved to south florida for a change of scenery. It was here in Delray Beach in 2007 that God awakened me to his presence through being arrested on drug charges. Part of the judicial mandate from the arrest was to attend 12 step meetings. In those meetings I was introduced to my 12 step sponsor who shared Jesus Christ with me.

Since trusting in Jesus it has been an incredible journey of redemption. I was quickly called into christian ministry working with other men who struggled with alcohol and drugs. I started christian halfway houses where I was able to live with and minister to men on their journeys seeking sobriety. I was then introduced to The Avenue Church where God has called me to be an elder and now a pastor.

It was also at The Avenue Church that God introduced me to my beautiful wife Jolene. We were married here in Delray in 2012 and have fallen in love with this great city. I have one son Gunnison “Gunner” who is a complete delight and the source of great joy for us! He is now almost 3 years old.
