I was born and raised in Southern California. I was a Pastor’s kid and had a Pentecostal upbringing until about age eight when my father took a position as a Christian Education Director at a Baptist church. I remained a Baptist through high school.
I had accepted Christ at age six and was baptized at age seven. However, I really didn’t come to a saving faith until much later in life, in my forties.
After high school I enrolled in Chapman College in Orange, California where I was to begin studying Pre-Med with a minor in Missions on grants and a scholarship I had received. The plan was to become a Missionary Doctor. Unfortunately, the Government rescinded the funding due to budget cuts.
I joined the US Air Force where I spent four years as a Linguist working for the National Security Agency. I got married shortly thereafter and we moved to Florida and put my wife through college. I then started college and graduated from the University of Florida in 1998 with a degree in Building Construction. Unfortunately, my marriage ended after 13 years. We had no children.
I spent the next few years chasing everything but God, never finding satisfaction but always being drawn back to Him. In my forties, the Gospel finally took hold, but I made a lot of mistakes in the process and growth has been painful, if I’m honest. I am a recovering Legalist…a product of my early upbringing.
In 2014, I moved to Delray Beach and God led me to The Avenue Church where I found the truth of the Gospel and it’s natural outflow being lived out. I’ve had the opportunity to lead and co-lead an MC group and serve on the Security Team. I am blessed to be able to serve now as a Deacon.
